DESCRIPTION

Join the Youngstown Air Reserve Base Community Council for the 8th annual “5K on the Runway” taking place on Saturday, July 12th, 2025 at 8:00am.

  • Packet pick-up and registration – 7:00am.
  • Opening ceremonies – 7:45am.
  • Race Start – 8:00am

We also have a virtual option available for participants not comfortable racing in person. Your goodie bag includes a T-shirt, finisher medal and bib number. You may choose to have your goodie bag shipped for $10 or can pick up your packet on race day.

5K on the Runway

The Youngstown Air Reserve Base Community Council thanks all of the runners, sponsors, vendors and volunteers for the success of the 6th Annual 5K on the Runway event on Saturday, July 15 at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. Initially, the fundraising goal was set at $20,000. The event raised $30,000 for the men and women of the 910th Airlift Wing at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna, Ohio and promoted the Base and its importance to the entire Mahoning Valley. This year, 271 runners participated in the run that started at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport and continued down the runway to the Air Base and back. This year’s event was especially special since there were 200 Airmen running in the 5K that started at the Air Base and ran towards the Airport. Because there were 471 civilian and military personnel all running together on a closed runway, it made this event a one-of-a-kind in the area.

The purpose of the Youngstown Air Reserve Base Community Council (YARBCC) is to invest in and maintain the presence of the Youngstown Air Reserve Station (YARS) through advocacy and public awareness. The 2nd Annual 5K on the Runway will take place on Saturday, July 6th at 8:00 AM with proceeds to benefit the future of YARS via YARBCC and the Eastern Ohio Military Affairs Commission (EOMAC), an advocacy organization under the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber. EOMAC seeks to defend and support the military missions that call our corner of Ohio home, and YARBCC specifically supports those missions.
